Porcelain inlays and onlays
Porcelain inlays and onlays are highly cosmetic and durable alternative for the composite (white) fillings. They are indicated in cases where most of the tooth structure is gone, for the back teeth that are suffering much higher pressure while chewing. Inlays and onlays restore larger cavities, mainly on the back teeth where the chewing force is stronger and the restoration needs to be more durable as well. Unlike the crowns, inlays do not require additional tooth substance removal, besides the cavity itself.
They are made out of porcelain individually for each tooth and their shade is adapted to the natural tooth color. The greatest difference between the average composite fillings and the inlays is that the inlays are being fabricated with a modern computer technology (CAD CAM), that provides this restoration with the best possible preciseness and durability, while being highly esthetic at the same time.
